Faster EFT-V

Faster EFT - V 

What is EFT? 
For thousands of years Chinese medicine has worked with an energy system of the body that is essentially electrical in nature. This energy system functions to maintain balance in the body. The medical practices of acupuncture and acupressure work with this flow of electricity or as the Chinese term it, chi (pronounced “chee”), helping to adjust the flow of chi for more balanced functioning within the body.

​Tapping techniques such as Emotional Freedom Technique or EFT, created by Gary Craig,  and Faster EFT, created by Robert Smith, work with this flow of chi within the body, using selected tapping points along the meridians or lines of the body’s energy system. EFT can be likened to a specialized form of acupressure using short, rhythmic taps as well as applied pressure and functioning primarily to relieve discomfort.

For my clients and for myself I work with a variant of Faster EFT, which I'll call Faster EFT-V.

Faster EFT was first introduced by Robert Smith.  He has many wonderful teaching videos on his website which I highly recommend. 

How Does EFT Work?
EFT and Faster EFT work because we experience negative or unpleasant emotions when there is a disruption in our body’s energy system.
Disruptions in our energy system occur when we think negative thoughts about uncomfortable events in our lives.

EFT and Faster EFT function to relieve the disruption in our energy system and restore the normal flow of chi. When normal flow of chi is restored we no longer experience emotional disturbance.

Here’s a way to picture this idea. Envision the flow of chi in the body as water flowing in a river. Negative thoughts floating down a river of chi in your body catch along the way and cause an obstruction or disruption in the smooth flow of chi. By tapping on selected points along the body’s energy system, the acupoints,  EFT and Faster EFT work to break up these disruptions in the flow of chi in the body and allow it to flow smoothly again. When your energy is flowing smoothly you feel good.

EFT and Faster EFT can target a specific disruption within the energy system because you verbally or mentally focus on the particular negative thought, problem or precipitating event, and then tap it away. As a healthy flow of chi is reestablished the negative emotions and accompanying reactions associated with the problem are no longer experienced and you feel better.
 

The Mechanics of Faster EFT - V

Faster EFT is especially effective because it brings in the power of your subconscious mind, in addition to targeting disruptions within the energy system. 

Set-Up
Program your subconscious for "Peace." Imagine the most peaceful scene you know and place yourself in the image. Really feel it. Now say the word, "Peace," aloud.  Allow yourself to bask in that feeling of peace for several moments.

Choose a triggering event for treatment.

A trigger is a situation that occurs in your daily life that sets you off on a spiraling course of negative thoughts and emotions.


As you visualize the event take careful note of how you feel emotionally and physically so that you can compare that with how you feel after tapping.

Uncomfortable events and emotions may have a number of different elements that are upsetting to us. Start with the aspect or feeling that is "in your face" right now.  

Step 1 -  Tap the following points 7-10 times while repeating a reminder phrase for your problem at each point , saying, “This (your problem or feeling in as few words as possible).”

1. eyebrow

2. side of eye

3. under eye

4. collarbone

5. grasp around your wrist 

Take a slow, deep breath and release it. 

Say, "Peace," and bring to mind that beautiful peaceful scene you envisioned earlier. 


Step 2 - Check in - How are you feeling? As you tap you may find what was "in your face" shifting. Go with it, tapping on whatever comes up for you and is bothering you right now.

Revise reminder phrase according to how you are feeling now and repeat steps as needed.

Tap all the points again.

Take a deep breath, say, "Peace," and check in with yourself.

​Keep tapping until you feel better.

Be persistant.

What to Expect In Your Session

Sessions last an hour to an hour and a quarter. We can meet in person, on ZOOM, on FaceTime if you have an iphone or ipad, or just over the phone. it's up to you what you feel most comfortable with. It works fine any way. 

We'll start with a heart centering and prayer inviting your spiritual support team to guide us in your session.
 
Then, the first part of the session will be learning EFT if you aren't familiar with it. In order for you to get the most benefit from the session I'd prefer to spend less time on teaching and more on tapping, so, if you're willing, please  familiarize yourself with the tapping technique above before your session.
 
I'll make sure you are comfortable with the tapping, and then I'll ask you to tell me what you'd like to work on with any history/information you are comfortable sharing. As you do so I'll be taking notes and probably asking questions. Intuitive questioning is a big part of what I do in order to connect the dots and get to the heart of the matter.

Then we'll tap on aspects of what we've talked about, allowing your subconscious to lead us to the core issue/s through what comes up for you while we are tapping. 

Depending on what comes up we may employ a version of a simple focusing technique to further access subconscious information in the body, as well as guided visualization.

Your subconscious is your greatest healer and ally.  Faster EFT-V allows us to access your innate healing ability and release what no longer serves you. Moving you into your wholeness.  

Scheduling Your Session

Sessions are available Monday through Friday 10AM - 3PM CST. Some weekend hours may also be available. To schedule a session please contact me at hhildreth888@gmail.com.  Session fee is $75, or three sessions for $210.   

EFT for Children - Happy Tapping

Happy Tapping is a simplified version  of Faster EFT-V that I created for children.  It utilizes an easy to remember rhyme. 
“Tap, Tap, Tap, Tap this feeling away. I can feel safe and better this way.”

Children can use this technique to give them a sense of control over uncomfortable emotions when they arise.
Here's How to Do It
1. Ask the child to show you with their hands how big the uncomfortable feeling is.

2. Tapping for children uses the same tapping points as used in adult Faster EFT-V, calling these, "Happy Points."  Tap  with two fingers on each Happy Point and say,
- Inner corner of eyebrow - "Tap"
- Outer edge of eye on orbital bone - "Tap"
- Under eye on orbital bone - "Tap"
- Collarbone, beneath indentation at base of throat and slightly to right or left - "Tap this feeling  away."
- Squeeze, squeeze, squeeze with thumb and a finger around the wrist and say, "I can feel safe and better this way."

3. Now have the child take a big, deep breath and let it all out.

​4. Ask the child to show you with their hands how much of the uncomfortable feeling is left. Encourage the child to be persistent and keep tapping until the uncomfortable feeling is gone.  ​

​Alternate Ideas
The rhyme may be changed to fit the feeling the child is experiencing. Remember that some children may not have a word for what they are feeling and may want to demonstrate with a sound or a facial or body movement. The end of the rhyme may be changed to match the desired outcome for the child.
​
For example:
"Tap, tap, tap, tap this anger/sadness/shame/worried (etc.) away. I can feel better and want to play." 

Allow children to be creative with this. My nine-year-old granddaughter came up with her own version of a desired outcome that had nothing to do with rhyme, and everything to do with an imaginative activity that felt really fun to her. I think it had something to do with sky-diving and friendly giants. ;)
Teaching with Story
Children learn best when it's fun to learn. So do most adults! Teaching EFT to children is easiest when you make it fun. Check out the read aloud story I wrote to help teach and encourage children to learn Happy Tapping - "The Boy Who Couldn't Go to Sleep."
